Touch up, then re-bake
The model will change after you touched up the sprites. Pixor is built for that.
An Aseprite file, ready to paint on
Pixor writes .aseprite files in indexed mode with its palette: a tag for every action and side, the final layer, and hidden helper layers (lines, flat) for touching up by hand.
Change the model, keep your paint
Add your own layers and paint. Then fix the rig, lengthen the walk or change the look in Pixor, and re-bake with pxr rebake. Pixor replaces only the layers it wrote:
- your layers are never moved, renamed, reordered or recoloured;
- each painted cel stays on the frame it was painted on, even when frames are added in the middle: every frame has an id made from what it is (action, side, time);
- colours you painted with keep their palette index;
- where the model moved out from under your paint, the frame is tagged so you can check it.
When it can’t decide, say you painted on Pixor’s own layer, it keeps both and asks. Nothing is lost.
